Velm cares about your privacy. This is a plain-English privacy policy. Questions? Email hello@velm.live.

What we collect

  • Apple ID identifier: When you Sign in with Apple, Apple gives us an opaque identifier (not your real email or name). If you opt to share fullName, we keep a display name for you.
  • Location: We request your location only while the app is open, to figure out which rooms are within 100 m. We don't track you or keep history.
  • Temporary identity: Each room gives you a random nickname & avatar. These vanish when the room ends.
  • Chat messages: Messages live on our server while the room exists. When the room ends, they're deleted.
  • Push token: If you allow notifications we store an APNs device token. Uninstalling the app invalidates it.

What we DON'T collect

  • Your real name (unless you choose to share it via Sign in with Apple)
  • Contacts, photos, microphone
  • Background location when the app is closed
  • Your activity in other apps

How long we keep data

  • Account: forever, until you delete it (email us)
  • Rooms & messages: deleted automatically when the room ends (default 1h)
  • Temporary identity records: cleaned up after 30 days
  • Card exchanges: kept once both parties consent — revocable any time
  • Push token: invalidated when you disable notifications or uninstall

Your rights

  • Log out any time (data is preserved for next login)
  • Delete your account any time (immediate erase, full backup wipe in 30 days)
  • Revoke a card exchange (cleared on both sides)
  • Request a copy of your data: email hello@velm.live

What we never do

  • We don't sell your data
  • We don't use your chats for ad targeting
  • We don't track you across other apps

Third parties

  • Apple Sign In: handled by Apple's privacy policy
  • Apple Push Notification service (APNs): for push delivery
  • No other SDKs (no ads, no analytics)
